Cadaver Putrefacto- La Maldicion de Zombi Errante (Album Review)

Musicians: Cadaver Putrefacto
Album Title: La Maldicion de Zombi Errante
Genre/ Subgenre: Death Metal
Label: Brutal Records
Release date: April 6, 2018

Cadaver Putrefacto (Putrefied Cadaver when translated to English) are an Argentinian death metal act. They formed in Buenos Aires with Daniel Martin Ledesma on guitar/ vocals and Juan Gomez on the drums. After years of inactivity, the band reformed in 2015 adding Leonel Grismado to handel the vocals and did their demo. But, by the end of 2016 the band is reduced to two members: Juan Gomez on guitar, bass, and scheduled drums and Leonel Grismado still doing the brutal vocal duties.

Now, having signed to Brutal Records, the band will be putting out their debut album, La Maldicion de Zombi Errante (The Evil of the Wandering Zombies), on April 6, 2018. And, let me tell you, this is a hell of a pick for those of us who like their death metal old school style.

The band show a definite influence of bands like Six Feet Under and Deicide, but most of all show a real love for Cannibal Corpse. The music is fast and heavy and is accompanied by very guttural vocals. The lyrics and subject matter are filled with all the blood, gore, horror, and misogyny that fans of bands like Cannibal Corpse will gleefully recognize. All of the songs are sang in Spanish, but with this type of vocals it won't matter cause unless your read the lyrics along with the music you ain't understanding jack-shit thats being sung.

The second track on the album, "Regresso al Horror" (Return to Horror) is blazingly fast with blast beat beatdowns, crunching riffs, and a thick bass guitar. "Sadica Venganza"(Sadistic Vengeance) starts with a thundering and moody riff and drum attack, it then blasts into a punishing and battering full throttle assault. A rumbling bass and punching double bass drum bring the pounding pain for the boiling anger in "Cadaver Putrfacto", which will cause necks to snap from the headbanging that they will be doing. "Macarba Colleccion" (Macabre Collection) drips with gore-drenched Cannibal Corpse worship. Crashing cymbals and a thundering bass lead into a crushing guitar riff for the merciless "Misogina Humillacion" (Misogynistic Humiliation), a song that is surely a heartwarming track for that special someone, or more than likely it isn't.
Production has a bit of a dirty, low-fi sound, but works perfectly with the music. The guitars are crisp and clear. The bass is quite audible, but pleasing, recalling an early Autopsy album with slightly better sound.

Cadaver Putrefacto- La Maldicion de Zombi Errante is a heavy and brutal affair. Clearly influenced by classic death metal bands and obsessed with gore and horror, this will please fans who want a return to the old days of the genre. And, if you wish that the bass guitar was more audible in extreme metal, well, then you have hit the fuckin' jackpot! There is nothing groundbreaking or new added to the genre here, but that is perfectly fine because what Cadaver Putrefacto do is done very well! Death metal fans, head and take notice, you will definitely need this for your collection when it comes out on April 6, 2018!
