Kick-Ass 2

Title: Kick-Ass2
Writer/ director: Jeff Wadlow
Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Mortez, Morris Chestnut, Claudia Lee, Amy Anzel, Clarke Duke
Min: 103

Following the incidents of the first film, Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Mortez) continues to fight crime, while
Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is being trained by her to be a better superhero. Hit-Girl, AKA Mindy Macready, is being taken care of by her dad's former partner and friend, Detective Marcus Williams (Morris Chestnut). He eventually catches up to her sneaking out and crime-fighting ways and makes her swear to stop. Meanwhile, Kick-Ass continues to look for fellow superheroes and finds one lead by a former mob hit-man turned hero named Col. Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey). At the same time his former friend, Chris D'Amico swears revenge for Kick-Ass killing his dad in the first movie via a bazooka. He becomes the Mother-Fucker and forms his own team of psychotic super-villains, determined to raise hell, destroy everything Kick-Ass loves, and, ultimately, kill him.

My God, did this movie ever kick some serious, well, ass! It is that rarest of sequel, the one that tops it's great first installment. One of the main reasons is just what a great time it is to be had. It's fast
paced, exciting, extremely funny, and has lots of gory violence. There are lots of unpc jokes that include racism, shit, attempted rape, and masturbation. Add the aforementioned graphic violence, that includes: amputation, impaling, stabbings, death by law-mower, head shots, bloody squibs and more, and this one wears it's R-rating proud as fuck! There is one scene where villainess Mother Russia (Olga Kurklina) slaughters a bunch of cops that is THE definitive mass cop slaughter scene done on the outside in movie history!

Hit-Girl still fucking rules! It's still a blast to see a young girl fight and kill, all while using the worst language, ever. Mortez is an amazing actress and the development of her character and struggle to find her real self, IE: is she a regular teen girl or a killer vigilante, gives her the chance to stretch her acting ability. The movie also gives Taylor-Johnson a chance to grow as Kick-Ass. He is given a lot more depth here and covers a range of emotions. The rest of the supporting cast all give nice performances, as well. Even Jim Carrey is great in this, and I usually cannot stand him!

Fans of hotties should be happy that frequent horror actress (Dawn of the Dead [remake], Cry Wolf,
Wrong Turn) Lindy Booth plays the sexy as fuck superheroine Night Bitch. She has one hell of a body! Here is hoping some hotties start doing this as a cosplay at comic cons! Also, it was nice to see Lindsey Fonseca return in her role for a quick, but funny and awesome, cameo.

The excellent script goes beyond the humor, action, and gore by giving the film a sense of depth that answers what it is to be a real life superhero. It also deals with family and who is the real person behind a hero's mask. But, this is never heavy handed and never slows or hurts the movie. In fact, as I just stated, it strengths it.

Ending with one hell of a climax and a cool ending, Kick-Ass 2 (based on the comic-book of the same name) is a straight shot of pure fuckin adrenaline! I left the movie theater feeling all pumped up and ready to whoop some ass of my own!! This is the best superhero movie, so far of 2013, topping Man of Steel, The Wolverine, and even the awesome Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. When this movie hits theaters this Friday, you need to see it as soon as you can!! Highest possible recommendation!!
